 2022年FIFA最佳球员评选，阿拉巴作为奥地利队长，在投票中把首票投给梅西，随后遭到网暴。 2023年FIFA最佳球员评选，巴尔韦德、莫德里奇在投票中都把首票投给梅西，随后也都遭到网暴。 2024年，莫德里奇、阿拉巴都没有给梅西投票，而是全投给了皇马球员。巴尔韦德则是没有投票，代表乌拉圭投票的是吉梅内斯。 2024年阿拉巴投票选择依次为：维尼修斯、卡瓦哈尔、贝林厄姆，莫德里奇投票选择依次为：维尼修斯、贝林厄姆、卡瓦哈尔。
